Team-Building in the Digital Age | Spreading Holiday Cheer in Remote Work

Written by The EXP team | Dec 13, 2023 4:54:12 PM

Working remotely, especially during the holiday season, can leave us craving those in-person chats and laughs. These connections fuel our creative tanks, so what do we do when inspiration and motivation are running on low power? Mix things up! Today, we're sharing three fun activities that'll bring the spirit of the season to remote work environments.

Holiday Party Trivia

Who doesn't love a good trivia game? It's a combo of fun, learning, and just the right dose of friendly competition. So, spice up your next virtual hangout with some holiday-themed trivia. Find out who the holiday expert in your team is with questions like, "Which of these is a traditional Italian Christmas dessert?" (Pandoro, Christollen, Tiramisu, or Buñuelos) and "Where did eggnog come from?" (France, England, Sweden, or Denmark). There are many great digital trivia tools out there—we personally love Crowdpurr.

Name That Holiday Tune

Combine the joy of the holidays with the love for music in a game of "Name That Holiday Tune." It's as simple as it sounds – play a song, and everyone guesses. Go the extra mile by curating a holiday playlist for a trip down memory lane. It's not just a game; it's a virtual jukebox of festive memories that'll have the whole team singing along.

Encourage your colleagues to recall their cherished holiday tunes and childhood moments. This activity provides a platform for deeper socializing, allowing team members to share their favorite holiday memories and connect on a more personal level.

Virtual Secret Santa

Secret Santa doesn't have to be a thing of the past just because you're working from home. Here's a virtual twist to keep the gift-giving magic alive:

  1. Use a Secret Santa name picker. (You can use websites like drawnames.ca).
  2. Set a budget and a date for the big reveal.
  3. Make sure everyone updates their wishlists to make the gift-guessing game a bit easier.
  4. Ship those surprises to their doorsteps.
  5. Wrap it all up with a video call to see the smiles and share the joy of giving.

These activities might be virtual, but the connections and joy they bring are as real as it gets. They're a reminder that, even from a distance, your team can still share laughs, create memories, and celebrate the holiday season together. So, let the trivia battles, song-guessing shenanigans, and Secret Santa surprises begin!
